Mirabelle Jewellery has been creating and sourcing exquisite hand made pieces of jewellery for many years. They have been using the Open Cart e-commerce website platform and as is the case for most online businesses, the platform they were on just couldn’t grow and evolve with the needs of the business.

The client was aware of Shopify and it’s incredible benefits, but she was searching for a Shopify developer who knew their stuff and inspired her with trust and confidence. Its a good thing the Pear Digital team was around to help.

After speaking to Allya who is our head of client projects, the client felt confident in our ability to deliver a stunning and functional website which has the potential to grow and scale with the business. So Allya and her team of Oompa Loompas along with the client got to work in building a website that would stand the test of time and match the beauty of Mirabelle’s pieces.

The first task was to create a workflow to accurately redirect all 13773 URL’s over from the old website to the new Shopify website. This is task was critical in preserving any organic rankings the old website achieved over the years and needed to be done with care. We then had to ensure that customer data was also migrated over and customers would receive new login credentials along with migrating reviews.

The next task was a lovely challenge. The client’s business had to comply with various VAT laws in the countries they operated in. To facilitate this we built a system within Shopify that meant UK businesses and consumers pay VAT, EU consumers pay VAT but not EU businesses and the rest of the world was exempt from VAT. The front end has been customised to show VAT where applicable so the user experience is not impacted and the client charges the correct VAT and remains compliant. Crazy right?

The next job was just as challenging. We set-up a whole new wholesale feature which meant that wholesale customers only see whole prices, retail customers see retail prices and unique products with a special pricing structure can be seen by both. We also set-up new shipping rates for wholesale and retail customers. Also, wholesale customers have been given a choice of how they can order. They can either log in and pick and choose what they want or they can fill out a quick order form if they know what they require. Simple and efficient.
